Europeans are afflicted with magical thinking. Personally, I think it is from the neurological hardwiring of the Abrahamic black and white thinking with the promise of a savior. As a whole, we are no longer living in reality, because when reality becomes tough, we start looking for saviors instead of becoming solutions oriented… because that takes courage. God or government can fill the role of savior, so long as we don’t go through the hard times, which could have served as corrective measures.
