People in Cambridge are being prevented from sitting by the river on a stretch of the Cam, after part of the bank collapsed.

This is close to Jesus Green lock which has been closed for two years and needs stabilisation work.

Lib Dem Parliamentary candidate Cheyney Payne said:

Today's collapse has made this stretch inaccessible — another warning sign that our river urgently needs investment.

Cambridge City Council says it is "working at pace to appoint a contractor".
