In a world that has consistently told me that I need to be small… smaller… smallest.
That I need to fit into a box. That I need to follow a life template that has been walked by so many women before me…
I want to be big. I want to be full. I want people to look at me and see me. Not just my husbands wife or my children’s mother, but me. Who I am today. A person who exists outside of what I am to others.
Maybe this is feminism? But my own kind. I don’t want to shatter any glass ceilings or burn my bra (I like my bra!), but I want to live in a world where women are seen. Respected. Where women, moms, contribute beyond home-making and child rearing. This is the world I want my daughters raised in.
And this is why I’m here, on substack. Spilling my guts to my wonderful audience. Because we only get out of the world what we put into it.
