The app for independent voices

dear michael,

very thoughtful piece!

thank you for sharing this:

"The press is under no obligation to take dictation from the government. AP explained their stance well; they are an international news organization, the Gulf of Mexico is an international body of water that the US has no right to rename, and so they will continue to refer to it as the Gulf of Mexico, as it has been known for the last 450 years. Makes perfect sense.

On the other hand, they have agreed to call the mountain once known as Denali (before it was renamed Mt. McKinley, before Denali was restored, before Trump re-renamed it Mt. McKinley) “Mt. McKinley” because the US government can rename places within the United States."

thank you for explaining them explaining their stance well!

and the rest!

love
