As a professional cat-sitter, I’ve confirmed that when I do have a cat of my own, he will absolutely need to be able to go outdoors and have his own cat door to do so independently. Because being woken up at 4am to play court jester as a cat’s sole source of entertainment is not a bop. I will spoil a cat rotten with snuggles and care but I need my beauty sleep goddamnit!

I do feel passionately that cats should be able to go outside, and I will wait until I am positioned to be in relationship with an animal in the way that I feel is right. Until then, I am happy to care for other people’s children 🌺

I just needed to get this out because this cat I’m taking care of will climb into bed while I’m sleeping, sit right next to me and meow very loudly in my ear lmao. I love him but He’s a jerk for that tho. His voice rings right through my earplugs.

His food bowl will be full and everything—I just think sometimes he does it because he has nothing else better to do. That, and his zoomies, crushing paper bags and playing in his cat litter like it’s Venice Beach up in here.
