I like how you put it, "this can increase as we age, so this can be a good time to pay attention what wants to be expressed in the moment." And I would add... If we don't, anger will be our smallest problem because what's not expressed turns into illness. Actually, anger is a form of expression and it is better to have anger than 100% hold it on the inside. So, it's not about removing it. It's about opening up to 'what is', expressing it, and the rest takes care of itself. Often, it's not even about expressing to others- it's about expressing it to ourselves.
As for the ancestral link, this is probably the most neglected part. Even people who do a lot of personal work somehow feel it all starts with them and it is all their responsibility to do it. I know this because I was one of them. In reality, we are continuing a journey of many others before us. Becoming aware of all that, and integrating it, is the most profound work there is. It is also our deepest legacy because those after us will hold on to things we have not healed as well.
I agree that a lifetime of not saying what you feel (or at least acknowledging it) can result in more frequent explosions. As you say, I do find this can increase as we age, so this can be a good time to pay attention what wants to be expressed in the moment.
