Colleges (& their instructors) should contemplate this—in particular since in the Ontario college (though not university) system, the college owns the course materials & can reassign them to another prof or sell them to another institution as they will. A short-term security for a college, but surely it leads me to asking myself why I should bother attending a college to learn these things when I could get anyone (or an LLM) to teach it to me.

The problem is that the system produces courses in which the identity of the instructor is irrelevant to the content. When a syllabus is borrowed, the message is “anyone can teach this.” When a course is designed for transfer rather than for the particular local knowledge and expertise of the person teaching it, the message is “anyone can teach this.” And when the system has been set up so that anyone can teach it, the system has been set up so that AI can teach it.
