Really worthwhile reflection (at the end of the post) on how technological innovations—in this case, GLPs, not AI—challenge or complicate thinking about virtue, vice, and avoiding the near occasion of sin. No clear conclusions from JD yet, which feels right.

I guess I’m learning those things don’t quite cut as neatly as I thought. And that a line between an acceptable technology and a problematic one is not always so clear. Which temptations should we turn down because of their physiological component? Which ones should we leave intact? We are embodied creatures — and the mystery of the body’s interplay with the will is not easily diced. Which means maybe all of moral agency is decidedly more complex than we wish often to boil it down to.
