I am reading about Hildegard of Bingen, and my GOD, she would be building AGI if she were here today! She was an an abbess, composer, philosopher, mystic, medical writer, naturalist, and theologian — all at a time women weren’t allowed to do shit. She composed over 70 songs (making her one of the most prolific composers of the entire medieval period); she wrote books cataloging hundreds of plants, animals, and minerals along with their medicinal uses; she wrote about the nervous system and gynecological health in the 1100s. She told off the Pope. She had cosmic, kaleidoscopic visions of light and form since childhood. She illustrated them in a psychedelic book. She founded her own monasteries — fundraising for them, overseeing construction and running them. She lived to be 81. Hildegard, it would have been a pleasure to know you <3
