Capable of seating over 1000 people, the main hall of Riga’s Dailes Theatre is ideal for staging works of scale. Oracle, the second part of a trilogy of pieces by Łukasz Twarkowski exploring both the paradigm-shifting scientific discoveries of the 20th century and the limits of human understanding, very much fits this description. Running to almost four hours, it is a big production on both a thematic and technical level, mixing cinematic visuals, pulsing music, thermal and infrared camerawork and, what I can only describe, as a techno séance.
