Spaced repetition is a technique for remembering things efficiently. The best overview is here: https://www.gwern.net/Spaced-repetition. Anki is the most popular software for this.

Anyway, when I read your newsletter and think "gee, I really should have known this fact / geographical feature / political party already," I put it into spaced repetition software, where (if all goes according to plan) I'll remember it forever with minimum total effort.
