What would conservatives do with a university if they had one? We know the answer to that. There are a handful of conservative-run university centers in the US. Leaving aside their extremely nepotistic (corrupt) hiring practices, they focus on libertarian propaganda, great books, Christianity, or constitutional history. That's it. Very little serious research or engagement with novel problems.

"guys like Jordan Peterson, he should be given the time to reflect on an issue and put out something every few months, instead the content churn and social medial battles"

Jordan Peterson was a tenured professor at the University of Toronto! He quit because he knew the right would reward him more for churning out a constant stream of clown content than for writing learned articles every few months. (Not that his articles would have been worth much anyway. But at least he could do better than arguing that "dragons are real.")

The leftist takeover of academia started 70 years ago. Conservatives had the power to resist, but they didn't because the average rightist doesn't care about ideas and idea-making institutions.

An anecdote: I'm almost certainly the most widely read right-wing millennial philosopher, and I have a job at a university. I asked the editor of a leading conservative intellectual magazine if he would consider my article about how the standard conservative objection to trans ideology is based on a philosophical mistake, and there is a better way to defend the gender binary. He replied, "I think we have this topic covered to our satisfaction at this time." He didn't ask to see the article or hear what my argument was. He just didn't care what a philosopher had to say, and, as a prominent conservative gatekeeper, he assumed his audience wouldn't care, either. He was probably right.

This isn't a problem that can be fixed with better institutions. It's a human capital problem that can only be fixed by giving smart people on the left a reason to switch sides.

Given that Auron MacIntyre is a poster boy for the smooth-brained slop content problem, I'm not sure what double-head fake he's pulling to be the one to complain about this. The only way the situation could get even more retarded than it currently is would be if the Auron MacIntyres of the online right created their own fake "academic" institutions.
