Giving a brand new history talk is always daunting. Like a stand up routine, it takes several airings to finesse, to add, remove, clarify, expand as necessary. Some jokes land, others don't. It's a constant work in progress.
The intention, for me at least, is educate whilst entertaining, to share our collective past in a relatable and accessible manner, and put on an enjoyable event that makes it worthwhile for people giving up their spare time.
And it does take a lot of work and throwing yourself out there and hoping for best. Speaking to a full room of people for an hour is not easy.
All of which is say, how glorious that applause sounds at the end as immediate feedback of a job done well ππΎ
