I don't think higher throughput per pore personally. Density advantages are potentially possible, but I think realistically that too may be limited. You want a certain volume in the pore (as Oxford have shown in patents, lifetime scales with well size).

Potentially pores could be more robust to washing and reuse (but as we've seen with Roche there may be solution there for protein pores).

I think over time the utility of ionic solid state pores has been somewhat eroded but advances in biological pore technology.
