Coach Thorpe makes a great point about Siakam giving Haliburton another ballhandler to play alongside. Haliburton currently leads the league with a ridiculous 51.4% assist rate; Trae Young is No. 2 at 44.8%. None of the other teammates who have logged just about any time with Haliburton has an assist rate over 12.3% (see below). So adding Siakam’s 21.3% (and having it come from a big man) instantly adds another dynamic to Indy’s offense and takes some of the load off of Haliburton.
