Anyone who thinks the 1988 DPOY somehow tipped the scales of the GOAT debate to MJ is delusional. The most important numbers in this particular GOAT debate will always be 6-0 (Jordan’s record in the Finals) and 4-6 (LeBron’s record in the Finals). Home bias in defensive record-keeping from 36 years ago does nothing to change that.
