New on Worldlines:Weaponizing Time, Part II – The Global Operational System
The hegemon is reorganizing its decline into doctrine, trying to prevent or halt it.
Through Multi-Domain Operations, Strategic Ambiguity, AUNP 2.0, and Mosaic Warfare, Western power elites are translating the fear of losing supremacy and material privilege into a planetary operational system: an architecture of permanent so-called “competition”: an institutionalized condition of non-peace, where low-intensity warfare becomes the norm while preparations for high-intensity conflict seem to never cease.
This analysis moves through the core components of this architecture:
Strategic Ambiguity as the temporal weapon, fostering perpetual uncertainty.
Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) as the doctrinal blueprint for relentless, cross-domain pressure.
The Army Unified Network Plan (AUNP) 2.0 as the digital infrastructure for planetary command.
Mosaic Warfare as the tactical expression, a financialized, disposable model of force.
Together, they form a synergistic system designed to transform episodic warfare into a "transregional and global" condition, operating continuously, simultaneously, everywhere. This is a spatial fix for a capitalism in crisis, an attempt to resolve hegemonic decline through the militarization of all.
Behind the soothing language of “adaptation”, “retreat”, “resilience”, and even “peace”, stands an unwillingness to coexist with a rising, but still fragile multipolar world. The project is about prolongation — the weaponization of time itself — to obstruct development elsewhere long enough to preserve a crumbling unipolar order.
(Part III will move from the operational to the strategic plane, examining Operationsplan Deutschland, as well as NATO’s Foresight Division, whose predictive frameworks reveal, whether intentionally or not, the institutionalization of elite anxiety and the normalization of perpetual war preparation and action.)
But for now, this is Part II: the operational system itself.
