This is not a specific criticism of the author Dan’s quoting, more a general observation: “slop” seems to be devolving in language the way “Karen” did, and at speed. I feel like it was a disenfranchised people’s term for a discrete and damaging political phenomenon like 5 seconds ago, and it’s still that, but it’s also—increasingly—just something we use to shit on women who irritate us. Romantasy and slop are not synonyms.
