In a start of year memo to the team, I jotted down some thoughts on Newcomer’s editorial values. One of the things we like to do is build in public so here you go:
-- We are authentic and independent-minded Silicon Valley insiders who write thoughtfully about an industry that we believe in.
-- We are interested in stories about people and money.
-- We say what we know and don't know.
-- We sometimes weigh in with our opinions but they're rooted in deep reporting.
-- We are fair and thoughtful but also fearless and direct.
-- We believe capitalism works best when people are transparent, honest, and decent.
-- We cheer for people who build successful businesses and make great investments.
-- We believe that information held by insiders should be shared with our paying subscribers.
-- We depend on our readers' trust and fight to continually earn it.
