Musk’s firing frenzy – a threat to nuclear security and food safety

On February 22nd, Elon Musk declared that all federal employees must send a weekly email detailing their accomplishments—or be considered resigned. This Silicon Valley-style purge might fly at his chaotic ventures like Twitter, applying it to Civil Service employees, many with union protections, is reckless. His mass firings have already gutted critical agencies like the National Nuclear Safety Administration and the USDA avian flu program, endangering nuclear security and food safety. The backlash is growing, with Congress increasingly uneasy over the loss of vital expertise.

Yet, as critical knowledge vanishes, Congressional Republicans remain paralyzed, unwilling to challenge Musk’s power grab. Will they act before irreversible damage is done? Unlikely. As Musk dismantles essential government functions, Republicans remain complicit, watching from the sidelines while America’s safety hangs in the balance.
