When we start to see progress cues that our bodies are getting healthier (more lean muscle mass and less body fat), we get more motivated to keep our nutrition, exercise, and sleep routines.

A close family member finally took some of my health and wellness protocols from my Substack.

She eliminated all snacking throughout the day.

She took the Fiber-first approach by eating a plate full of tasty vegetables and savory fruits before every meal, went on daily walks, and finally got her sleep apnea in order.

She ate well.

Slept well.

And moved well. She’s lost over 40 pounds now and it’s been two years.

I asked her, “What’s been the biggest motivator for you to keep up with these habits?”

She said, “I’m embarrassed to say this, but when people comment on how much weight I’ve lost or how healthy I look, it always gives me a boost to keep going.”

Turns out, this works even when other people notice our progress cues.

Vanity at its best.
