I am all for authors learning to use AI writing and editing tools. Part of learning to use a tool is understanding the tool itself, how it works, so that you can use it skillfully.
Honing your skill with any tool will achieve at least two crucial goals: you improve the quality of the work you do with that tool, and you are less likely to harm yourself or your WIP if you slip up. Partly because you’re less likely to slip up at all if you are highly skilled with that tool!
I also share John Warner’s aversion to widespread uncritical embrace of AI—see below. But none of this disqualifies AI writing tools, especially for fiction! I’ll go into more detail later. If you’re interested, subscribe so you don’t miss it!
