Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of headlines like these (paraphrased):

“Your Relationship with Money is Your Relationship with Yourself”

or

“How You Fuck is How You Spend Money”

or

“What You Expect is Exactly What You Get”

I’m sure there’s truth to all this. Because life is a house of mirrors.

Everything and everyone can reflect back to you your beauty or your flaws, depending on which angle you’re looking from.

I’m going to add another “headline” to the mix:

How you feel about yourself is reflected in how you treat others and how you allow them to treat you.

If you spend too much time holding space for others, perhaps you are unable to hold space for yourself.

If you tolerate any amount of disrespect, perhaps you don’t believe you are worthy of that respect.

If you talk about yourself too much, perhaps you have an inflated sense of your own importance (or are compensating for not having one).

If you cannot tolerate conflict with another, perhaps it’s because you can’t tolerate the possibility of having done something wrong. The possiblilty that you’re not somehow perfect.

We are all such imperfect works-in-progress

or

we are all such messy and beautiful works of art.

Depending on which angle you’re looking from.
