Boat life - been jogging along on the Kennet & Avon Canal. So peaceful out here and the petrol/smoky smell is intoxicating. Come in all shapes and sizes. Love the quirky signage and little Buddha captains.

Had a chat with the owner of the ‘Juggernaut’ (the Thomas Tank smiley one). He was sat in the door rolling a cig, looking very chilled. Dog sat next to him and I could hear a kid running about inside.

“Do you do this full time?” He nodded. “It’s a great lifestyle. Hard work though, there’s a lot to do.”

“How do you work? What do you do?”

“I’m a lorry driver. With difficulty…” he laughed. He has a temporary licence for the mooring and it’s time to move on (still there today though).

You can have a ‘Boatman Breakfast’ at the Lock Inn Cafe in BoA, which has a great view of all the narrowboats. Check out the submarine - so stylish!
