Today’s Tiny Trip: a Thai massage with Wandee at Thai Smiles in Bexhill. Not been sleeping well so thought it might help.
No frills, but cosy and clean. Cash only, no forms, no questions - just get your kit off (except your knickers) and lie down on the couch TABLE - strong enough to take her weight as well as mine. I love all the stretching - the best bit.
Super strong hands (and she used her hands for most of it). I asked her who massages her - she said they practice on each other.
Didn’t love the Johnson’s baby oil but the menthol does the job.
Can’t stand plinky plonk music in spas - I’d rather listen to Thai music.
Lots of bottled water wrapped in plastic in the reception area. I asked her for a glass of water afterwards and she handed me a bottle.
Thailand is a major plastic producer - mostly single use. A friend has just spent 5 weeks there and said the bins were full of it. They don’t seem to recycle much.
For a major tourist destination (and 5-year digital nomad visa now) - they need to get their act together re the tap water and sustainability.
Anyway, I recommend Doa and the girls if you’re over this way :) Essential not just a luxury!
Just be sure to ask ‘how deep is deep??’ before your head’s buried in the hole lol - looked like a panda when I came out.
They have a restaurant, Thai Marina, on the waterfront in Eastbourne too.
