As I was getting sober, my spiritual mentor had me write down everything I wanted in a partner. “Make a list,” she said. “No holds barred, let your imagination run wild, list every quality you could ever possibly dream of.”

So, wanting to stay sober, I followed directions. I made my list and when I was done there were 24 boxes to check.

Then she said, “Good, now YOU go out into the world and BE those things to the best of your ability.”

So, I did.

Then, about 2 years later…

This man showed up. I wasn’t looking, and neither was he.

Almost 5 years later, all 24 boxes checked, and then some…I am still in awe. I still wake up, every morning and have to mentally pinch myself.

My spiritual advisor says, “you had to kiss a lot of frogs to get your prince, enjoy him.”

We will marry August 10th surrounded by people we love the most.

I share this in the spirit for those who may not believe in happy endings. They are real and dreams do come true.

My backstory is that I was married at one time, to my high school sweetheart, for 17 years. We had 2 boys and divorced when they were 10 and 2. Two weeks after the divorce was final, was his first weekend of custody with them.

He committed suicide in their presence. My 10 year old found him and spent 3 hours trying to revive him before he called me. He left a note.

Souls, the human psyche, can be shattered…and it can heal. With love, anything is possible, provided one never, ever gives up. One reaches for light and is held, even in the darkest of dark ~ where there is love, we are never dropped.💓
