The real question is why cholesterol isn’t converting.

It’s the precursor to many of the sex hormones, also Vitamin D and bile.

For women, it’s imperative to look behind the wall of blame over diet and hormones, and look toward light.

Light controls the timing of sex hormone secretion, and light controls the conversion of cholesterol into essential components of biology.

Light controls the health of the liver that does many of these conversions.

When hormones are crazy, digestion is bloated and uncomfortable, Vitamin D is low… it’s probably because of being sold on the idea that avoiding sunlight to reduce the risk of skin cancer (at the expense of increasing all cause mortality through a sun avoidant lifestyle) was a good idea.

Living in a polar climate drastically exacerbates this risk if artificial light is used to extend daytime hours in the winter—it’s not the darkness that is the problem, but the artificial to natural light ratio you end up with in that scenario.

The sun and complementary darkness nurture the cardiovascular system and the cholesterol story remains woefully negligent every time it is told without discussing the impacts of light and circadian rhythms.

This is for anyone who is seeing the updated cholesterol guidelines for women and feeling concerned about their future heart health ❤️‍🔥
