My experience of university was mixed. But I did meet, among others, Roger Scruton (who became a friend), Geoffrey Hill, George Steiner, Rowan Williams, Derek Parfitt (not a fan but at least he did something), Anthony Kenny, had a few pints with Michael Inwood; I heard Amartya Sen lecture, I attended Peter Geach’s funeral mass. I also met the Dalai Lama. I touched a world of humane learning that is about to be burned to the ground. Good for me. My children will learn how to be “prompt curators”
