I believe in the connection between chronic illness and trauma in so far as it involves mechanisms like epigenetic methylation, cortisol elevation, corticotropin-releasing hormone secretion, mast cell activation, etc., but I also maintain that the vast majority of these processes are in fact reversible.
The trouble with BKS is the messaging that we are perpetually doomed if we face any adverse childhood events or traumas later in life because the body will purportedly always remember. This rhetoric strips patients of their agency. To rob someone of hope is an unforgivable crime.
