It’s quite funny, when you consider that one of the chief Brexit objections to the EU what is that it was too bureaucratic, to learn that the UK civil service has ballooned since 2016 from a post-war low of 385,000 to 516,000 today. As I note in my latest post on the case for Rejoin, that increase of 130,000 compares with an entire EU civil service staffing all institutions of just 60,000!
