Substack is in danger of collapsing under its own weight. There are just too many worthy accounts here now to expect readers to cough up $5 for every writer they want to read. There needs to be some kind of subscription/revenue sharing mechanism so subscribers aren’t constantly asked for money for every damned article they’d like to read. Sell tokens. Punchcards. Come on, SS, INNOVATE ALREADY.

I’m going to say something that shouldn’t be controversial but will be. If you are a Christian, you can support border control and immigration being legal vs illegal. You CANNOT celebrate deportations and get off on the cruelty, and be a real Christ follower. Period

BREAKING

Remember when we said NY AG Letitia James had the power to investigate Trump tariff-related stock market manipulation and insider trading?

IT'S HAPPENING.

James just confirmed an investigation has been opened.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but EVERY FUCKING RETAILER needs to show the tariffs next to the price -- not just Amazon.

Walmart, Target (where I do not shop), ALL OF THEM. It's a fucking tax, why shouldn't we see it?

I want to know exactly how much trump's tariffs are jacking my prices up. DON'T YOU?

If tariffs are so great, why are so many companies begging for exemptions from them?

If tariffs are so great, why did Trump beg Amazon not to show the impact of the tariffs to consumers?

I don’t understand.

We live in a time that people are more inclined to obey an unlawful executive order than they are to follow a court order 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Dictators are created due to cruelty, cowardice, & compliance! IF THEIR ASSES will ignore the Supreme Court, we can definitely IGNORE HIM!

I do all my work to escape myself. I don't believe in looking into yourself. If you do this, you just discover a lot of shit. The truth is not deep in ourselves. The truth is outside.

Sometimes, when he fails badly enough, Trump can be forced to do the thing he says he never does: back down.

Today is just one more turn on the roller coaster - but it is more evidence of why we can't give up or let up.

I would love to read John McWhorter’s article, but linking to articles behind another publication’s paywall makes that impossible.

A periodic reminder to Substackers: If you’re posting your fiction/poetry/creative non-fiction here, and you have 1,000 to 2,000 dedicated followers, then you are doing just as well as approximately 90% of traditionally publishing writers. Moreover, your Substack audience stays constant and doesn’t depend on the flows and ebbs of traditional publishing schedules. Your Substack posts will always be sitting on the front table of your subscribers’ personal bookstores.

My dad was in a supermarket near the Yorkshire-Nottinghamshire border the other day and a woman said to him, "Hey, LAD, reach me two of them pies down, would yer? A chicken and a beef."

He told her he was 75 so wasn't technically much of a lad any more.

"Yeah, but I'm 85," she replied. "So yer still a lad to me."
