Given the current problematic social media firms,

it would be so beneficial to New Zealand Mainstream Media & Local Advertisers to work with @bsky.app & sponsor a locally New Zealand Bluesky hosting service & just cut the companies formally known as Facebook & Twitter out of the New Zealand market.

I utterly agree with Tom, Kikorangi: "deep sky blue" is a great name.

Technically, I think this should be deployed with Bluesky's AT protocol server side backend but with a custom client for both website app & mobile apps.

Policy & Management as a CO-OP would be better.

The custom client would include providing limited screen space for advertising, partitioned from any posted content for privacy, BUT ONLY Legitimate New Zealand Advertisers & International Advertisers willing to have a local point of presence to abide by NZ advertising legislation.

For thirty years, due to the increasing proportion of scam & outright fraudulent advertising on the web, we have been reinforce training people to NEVER click on any ads for fear of being taken down yet another fraudulent rabbit hole. By restricting adverting to legitimate businesses & organisations it would sell the service.

It would even encourage users to use the ad service search function to look for items instead of risking a general web search. Or even set up watch and/or want lists for keeping track of new or cheaper product classes etc.

This is man power expensive to set up & run so why not leverage the existing marketing workforce within the mainstream media who can vet the advertisers & sell them ad packages including space on the media properties : TV,Radio,Print,Online & also vetted Kikorangi & other platforms using the ad service, augmenting ads on Google & other platforms.

The Mainstream media would provide extra content, including exclusive & early release content on Kikorangi & get a far higher rate of return through selling the advertising on the vetted ad platform than through dropping their content on other social media platforms.

The important thing is to have it set up an all encompassing CO-OP with all of the New Zealand Mainstream Media entities & larger NZ marketing companies holding relatively equivalent share holding in the CO-OP, with a Kikorangi users group holding a portion of shares in the CO-OP as well.

Having Kikorangi hosted within New Zealand, subject to all of NZ legislation, would be hassle but also a boon for selling the service to New Zealand Businesses & Public.

The biggest plus could the vetted Ad service itself, proving an income source for non-mainstream content providers & services.
