IS CLINICAL RESEARCH BELIEVABLE?
Dr. Marcia Angell, MD, previous Editor-in-Chief New England Journal of Medicine, and Harvard Medical School professor has said…..
"Conflicts of interest and biases exist in virtually every field of medicine, particularly those that rely heavily on drugs or devices. It is no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as the editor of the New England Journal of Medicine."
This is from an article she had written "Drug Companies & Doctors: A Story of Corruption" in the New York Review of Books - Jan. 15, 2009. Again, she was Editor-in-Chief of one the top, most prestigious medical journals for 20 years. And she is not alone in this conclusion. Former editors of other top journals have said the same.
This is why I implore everyone to look at the research for themselves. Including the methods, objectives, and conflicts of interest/ethics declarations. You don’t need a PhD to understand this. The results and body of work maybe, but not the goals, designs, or funding.
