“Thank you to that donkey…

who stood with us even during the days of famine.

Before the war, he held no real place in our lives. We saw him wandering the streets, unnoticed by most, except for a few farmers.

But when the war began, everything changed.

When transportation disappeared, he became our only means of movement.

He carried us and our belongings from one place to another under bombardment.

He lived through the details of displacement with us and shared our hardest moments.

During the harsh days of famine, he was a refuge for us all.

Despite his own hunger and exhaustion, he continued to carry us, walking through the rubble, transporting the wounded to hospitals, and carrying the martyrs in silence.

He worked without complaint and filled a void that no vehicle could replace.

At a time when so much collapsed, he remained steadfast.

So it is not enough to thank him — he deserves to be honored.

In the darkest circumstances, he was a true hero… saving our children and our families, and walking beside us until the end.”
