In most moments when we find ourselves shutting down, the body is reacting to a moment it doesn’t feel safe to be as it is.

We are conditioned to believe that our darker emotions must be suppressed and hidden away, and in most cases were never taught how to express our pain in a way that isn’t damaging to others but open, vulnerable, and healing to others.

To be truly vulnerable is to first be really honest with your own experience enough so to find compassion for the most shameful inner world.

Projection and withdrawal breaks bridges, vulnerability builds them.
