Finally (again, in very typical Tarantino fashion), the male gaze is adopted meta-diegetically once more through Richie’s penetrating and prolonged gazing at Kate. The camera pans up Kate’s body, pausing on the sexualised parts of it — feet, breasts, face — and then fragments and fetishises these parts by lingering. It oscillates between the preceding and close up shots of Richie’s eyes, filled with predatory impulse; all whilst Dengue Woman Blue (by Jimmie Vaughan) — a slow tempo song about a man’s overwhelming and uncontrollable desire to possess a woman, plays in the background.
