One of the things I make a point of exploring in my both my queer Appalachian romance and romantasy is the role of family, both found and biological. Kinfolk are an important part of Appalachian culture and life, and I want them to be a key part of my characters' lives, too, and I try to include the good, the bad, and the ugly.
