As someone who thinks and writes about place, I find notions of home and belonging get stirred up around the holidays.

I’m someone who lives far from my home-place of origin. I know people who are going through their first holiday season after a breakup or after a death of a parent. There can be a sort of groundlessness around this time - and connection to place can soothe it, or if that connection is disturbed, make the ache a little deeper.
