☠️ MAKE AMERICA POISONOUS AGAIN

The Trump administration is repealing limits on PFAS “forever chemicals” in drinking water — chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, kidney disease, immune suppression, and cardiovascular disease. They are literally called “forever chemicals” because they never break down.

President Biden had finally done something unusually rare in modern American politics: he took on a powerful industry and imposed the first major new drinking water protections in three decades. The rules were expected to protect roughly 200 million Americans (the majority in red states) and prevent thousands of illnesses and deaths.

Public health advocates called the standards historic. Chemical companies called their lobbyists.

Now Trump’s EPA is cancelling them.

And this isn’t an isolated case. The administration is also moving to repeal rules preventing power plants from dumping toxic mercury and arsenic into waterways.

Apparently “Make America Healthy Again” means making sure corporations never suffer the burden of not being allowed to poison the water supply. ∎
