Open Secrets events update: In early February, we’ll be announcing the lineup for our second personal storytelling summit, Open Secrets Live, on May 2 in NYC at Symphony Space’s Leonard Nimoy Thalia. The event will also be recorded and, pending speaker approval, the audio will be posted on Open Secrets after the event. Our lineup features over 3 dozen memoir authors, including an amazing keynote speaker, 4 book editors and 2 essay editors at major national publications!
But we also want to do something for the writers who follow us who are looking for literary representation but who aren’t in New York or can’t attend the in-person event. We’re working on a literary agent virtual pitch slam and info session to be held around the time of Open Secrets Live, probably in late April. It’s in the planning stages, but stay tuned, and subscribe to Open Secrets to get all the details in your inbox. There will be a small cost to cover the time involved, and we’ll be limiting attendance so those who in the private, non-recorded pitch slam have a chance to pitch and ask questions.
And if you’re going to writing conference AWP in Baltimore in early March, we’ll be at Booth 305 with Open Secrets T-shirts, notebooks, tote bags, and zines for sale, and are hosting a private cocktail party Friday, March 6 from 6:30-9 p.m. at a contributor’s nearby home. Space is limited but we currently have spots open for our readers and contributors. RSVP to opensecretsmag at gmail dot com and we’ll reply ASAP.
