The app for independent voices

Want publishing tips? Hear from editors at The New York Times’ Modern Love and Tiny Love Stories sections, Slate, and book publishers Abrams, Catapult, One Signal (Atria imprint), and Tiny Reparations Books (Dutton imprint), plus our editor-in-chief Rachel Kramer Bussel about what they’re looking for from writers and how to stand out, plus get the chance to ask questions. Join us LIVE in NYC on May 2!

We currently have 24 early bird tickets left for our personal storytelling summit Open Secrets Live in NYC on May 2 at Symphony Space’s Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre, including 1 last VIP ticket which gets you into the after-party. These are likely to sell out soon (and then only a handful will be available in early April for this intimate, 169-seat theater).

Our keynote speakers are performers and memoir authors Jeff Hiller, Murray Hill, and youngmi mayer.

We also have over 30 memoir authors with books out now or coming out later in 2026 who’ll discuss how they write about family, romantic relationships and friendship, identity, LGBTQIA life, mental health, and physical health. Books by all speakers will be available for sale or pre-order at the event by Kew & Willow Books.

The full schedule, plus all the details and testimonials from last year, are at opensecretsmagazine.com…
