In lieu of a new post this morning, here’s an 2015 essay by our editor-in-chief Rachel Kramer Bussel’s grandfather Norman Bussel, who passed away yesterday at age 102. He wrote this at 91 and being a POW in WWII, helping other veterans, and the lifelong impact of PTSD.
He also wrote the memoir My Private War and you can read more about him in this obituary in The New York Times. He would have wanted to know the freedoms he fought for weren’t in vain. nytimes.com/2026/04/07/…
