It was doing fine. Then it got near the edge of the steps.

The operator missed the warning moment. Then the robot just went down. Powered off on stage. Music still playing.

The operator dragged it offstage while Billie Jean kept going in the background.

Balance, recovery, handling surfaces that are not perfectly flat. Still the hardest unsolved problems in physical robotics.

The show must go on. The robot however did not.
