Microsoft just canceled most of its internal Claude Code licenses.

Too expensive.

This is a company that put $13 billion into OpenAI and runs the cloud infrastructure behind most of the AI industry.

And even they looked at the token bill and said no.

Uber burned through its entire 2026 AI budget in four months. Individual engineers were hitting $500 to $2,000 a month just on Claude usage.

GitHub is moving from flat rate to usage based billing starting June 1. AI software prices across the board are up 20 to 37 percent.

The subsidized era of cheap AI is ending. The labs need revenue to justify their valuations. Enterprises are getting the real bill now.

Build as much as you can with the tools at current prices. This window will not stay open forever.
