Cursor founder Michael Truell just announced their own new model at the Compile event.
Pre-trained from scratch on over 100,000 GPUs. 1.5 trillion plus parameters. Built to be intelligent beyond just coding tasks.
People are already connecting this to xAI's Grok V9-Medium, also 1.5T, which reportedly used Cursor data during training. That points to a tighter relationship between the two companies than anyone confirmed publicly.
The presentation itself was raw. No big tech polish. That style is part of why this is getting attention. It reads less like a keynote and more like a team showing actual work.
Cursor was just acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion. Now they are training their own frontier model. The coding tools market just stopped being about who has the best IDE and started being about who has the best model underneath it.
