Chair of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Mike Lee has set the date and time to vote on Steve Pearce's nomination for the position of director of the Bureau of the Land Management (BLM).

This vote will determine whether his nomination goes to the full Senate for confirmation.

A former U.S. Congressman from New Mexico, Steve Pearce has a long history of opposing conservation efforts and trying to sell off large tracts of federal public lands. He's as anti-public-lands as politicians come.

His nomination is opposed by literally countless—dozens upon dozens—conservation organizations on both the left and the right, from hardcore hunters to animal rights activists, from off-highway vehicle users to anglers, hikers, and photographers.

"Steve Pearce has a devastating track record of waging war on the very things that the Bureau of Land Management is tasked, in the heart of its mission, to protect," said Demis Foster, Executive Director Conservation Voters New Mexico. "Steve Pearce is deeply out of touch with the people of New Mexico and the Western states and their fierce love of public lands."

Pearce's nomination vote is scheduled for March 4, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. (ET).

Please take a moment today or tomorrow—ideally both—to contact your Senators and tell them to vote "no" on Steve Pearce as BLM director.

You can call the Capitol Switchboard number to be connected with your Senators: (202) 224-3121.

In the article below, I listed the contact information of all the Republican members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. Contact them, too.

Thanks for helping to protect our public lands and waters!
