Midlife confidence, I’ve noticed, doesn’t need to be loud. It doesn’t announce itself or demand applause. It grows quietly through repeated acts of self-trust, through noticing when something no longer serves you and having the courage to step away from it. It’s choosing the meaningful, sustainable and enjoyable things that bring joy and maintaining a sense of purpose, simplicity and peace. When we planned the life changes last year, we didn’t have a flawless plan or a guaranteed outcome. What we did have was the stubborn, slightly reckless belief that life should fit around us, not the other way around. That same inner knowing is guiding me now, asking me to be brave in small, subtle ways and just do what feels uniquely me.
