Think about it. These unscrupulous people built useful, innovative platforms which attracted billions of users, making piles of money tall enough for a thousand lifetimes. That was the ‘social’ in social media.
But that was not enough. They intentionally converted those users into addicts, feeding them with addictive, nonsense videos and infinite scrolling, tearing apart the social fabric as they went along.
The Romans would have fed them to lions. That, I admit, is slightly over the top. But this reckoning is long overdue.
