Türkiye's battery project pipeline is larger than Germany, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands combined.
As of late 2025, approved battery projects in Türkiye reached 33 GW - exceeding any EU country. Germany and Italy, the next largest, sit at 12-13 GW each. That's almost 3x less, despite vastly higher installed wind and solar capacity (DE: 200 GW, IT: 58 GW vs TR: 40 GW).
Why? Türkiye simplified wind and solar grid capacity allocation for projects equipped with a battery of matching capacity.
From Ember's Türkiye Electricity Review 2026 by Ufuk Alparslan - well worth a read.
