The top 20% of US earners drive 60% of spending. Many of these jobs are first in line for full AI automation in the 2030s.

Software development, legal, finance, content, admin - these white-collar jobs are changing fast with AI, and these jobs generate the bulk of consumer spending. Personal consumption expenditures are almost 70% of US GDP.

So the macro implications are severe. According to epoch.ai's GATE model, these task categories are on track for full automation between 2034 and 2040, which is rather soon…
